As composers, we’re lucky when we have the opportunity and budget to record live musicians, whether it be chamber ensembles or full orchestras. Producing these recording sessions is a skill that doesn’t come naturally.
When score producing you need to run the session, direct both the musicians and the engineer, keep an eye on the time, mentally process the takes as they are happening, problem shoot and strategize how to get the sound you need in that moment. Every second that ticks by is money spent. It is a lot of pressure!
The JMH Score Production Workshop will equip you with those skills and then provide you the chance to use them, just like in real life. You will then receive feedback and do it all again the next day!

testimonials
"Catherine and her associates have been with me through some of the craziest deadlines, difficult situations, and challenging budgets. If you are looking for professional support with the best attitude and go for it mentality, who truly love being part of the scoring process, no matter what role they play, offering flexibility to expand and contract the team as needed, you have come to the right place. Now I can't imagine my process without them" - Miriam Cutler
"There is a small miracle that Joy Music House performs, and that is instantaneous scalability for any composer’s operation. Aside from her own personal talents, Catherine Joy has a large network of trusted employees and associates who have come to my aid on a project by project basis, and sometimes a day to day basis. You can even call up Catherine the night before a big session and say, “The guy who we hired to do all of our notation has had a medical emergency and we can’t retrieve our sheet music.” And eight hours later, at East West Studios, she will hand you a stack of beautifully notated orchestrations, and stick around to make sure the session goes well." - Brocker Way
“Working with Catherine is a Joy (pun intended). She is a consummate professional, and adds value to every situation. Most importantly, I have complete trust in her taste and her ability to handle all aspects of the scoring process.” - Jacques Brautbar
"Working with Joy Music House was an absolute pleasure. We found ourselves in a tight situation with both time and budget working against us, but their dedicated team made everything run so smoothly and efficiently. Working with a team like their's allows you to rest assured that your music will be great hands every step of the way. We can't wait to work with them again!"
- Drum & Lace and Ian Hultquist
"Projects can be chaotic: dates changing, budgets shifting and revisions up until the last minute. JMH made it possible for me to focus on the music, and when our recording day finally arrived, everything was air tight and ready to go. Catherine and her team made the session run seamlessly and allowed me to speak to producers, focus on the musicians and leave the stress of the logistics out of my mind. On the day, Catherine knew the music as well (or better) than I did, and commanded the room to make sure we stayed on schedule and focused and leaving with something we were all proud of." - Keegan Dewitt
